Electrology

Duration: 320 hours
Monday – Friday

9:00am-2:00pm | 13 weeks
6:00pm-10:00pm | 16 weeks

Essence Medical Aesthetics Training is an accredited career-oriented educational institution dedicated to excellence in the teaching of permanent Electro-Epilation. Our goal is to provide classroom lessons of the highest standard as well as hands-on clinical training, both of which will enable graduates to start a rewarding career in the field of electrolysis and laser hair removal.

Electrology is the practice of electrical hair removal to permanently remove human hair from the body. Electrolysis is the actual process of removing hair using electricity. In electrolysis, a qualified professional called an electrologist slides a hair-thin, solid metal probe into each hair follicle without puncturing the skin. Electricity is delivered to the follicle through the probe, which causes localized damage to the areas that generate hairs, either through the formation of caustic sodium hydroxide (the galvanic method), overheating (thermolysis), or both (the blend method).

Electrolysis, the only method approved by the FDA to call itself permanent hair removal. It is safe and effective for all skin types, hair types, skin colors, hair colors, and nearly all areas of the body.

In addition to personal passion, the main drive of our field to provide students with an in-depth curriculum which covers the full range of techniques in permanent hair removal by using modern training labs and equipment.

The Electrology Program includes the following topics as part of the outline course:

  • Proper sanitation, bacteriology, sterilization, and infection control procedures required in the field of Electrolysis
  • Clinical application of the modalities: Electrolysis, Thermolysis, and the Blend; as well as proper insertion techniques, probe holder and forceps skills
  • Laser Hair Removal Protocols
  • Client assessment, pre and post-treatment procedures, general treatment procedures, and clinical consultations
  • Anatomy, microbiology, disorders/conditions, and assessment of the skin
  • Components of Endocrine, Nervous and Circulatory Systems
  • Anatomy, biology, and assessment of the hair
  • Use of electricity in hair removal
  • Florida Statutes and Rules for Electrolysis
